Dr. Garrett Hewstan

Dr. Garrett spent 25 years in clinical practice before creating the Amari Method. He saw that every approach, from adjustments to massage to medication, kept the patient passive. But only your body can actually heal you. So he built a method that teaches you how.

In a session, Dr. Garrett guides you through protocols using simple props while he watches how your body responds. He's not doing the work for you. He's showing you where your body is out of balance and how to correct it yourself. After 25 years, he can see things in how you move that nobody else has caught.

Discovery

Your first sessions are just about experience. You come in, Dr. Garrett walks you through the protocols, and you feel what your body does in response. There's no homework and no curriculum. You're just discovering what happens when your body is given the right positions. Most people feel a real difference in their first session.

First 4–8 sessions
Level 02

Transform

This is where you start learning the home practice. Dr. Garrett teaches you the cues and the feel of each protocol so you can do them on your own. About five minutes a day, wherever you are. You start noticing things shifting on their own. Standing differently, breathing differently.

3–6 months
Level 03

Awaken

You run the protocols while Dr. Garrett coaches you in real time, refining the depth and nuance of each one. The work keeps getting deeper. People stay not because they need to, but because there's always another layer to discover.

What exactly is the Amari Method?
You're in pain because your body is out of balance — something is working too hard because something else isn't working enough. Dr. Garrett assesses how your body moves, identifies where the imbalance is, and guides you through rebalancing protocols using simple props like yoga blocks, foam rollers, and gymnastic rings. You're not lying on a table while someone works on you. You're moving, hanging, finding positions where your body starts to rebalance itself. There are 8 core protocols, and you learn them at your own pace. They feel good while you do them, which is why people actually stick with them — and you take them home.
How quickly will I see results?
Most clients feel significant relief during their first session. The deeper transformation happens over time as your body learns to hold its own balance. You'll build a daily practice, about 5 minutes a day, that maintains what you gained and keeps going deeper.
Is this suitable for my type of pain?
The Amari Method works with most types of pain — chronic back pain, neck and shoulder tension, sports injuries, joint pain, and more. Severe conditions or those requiring medical intervention should be discussed with Dr. Garrett during a free consultation.
How long is each session?
Your initial session is 60 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 50 minutes. Both are available in person (San Francisco) or virtually.
What if the method doesn't work for me?
If you don't experience noticeable relief after your first session, we keep working with you until you do, at no additional charge.
Do you accept HSA, FSA, or insurance?
We accept HSA and FSA cards for all sessions. We don't bill insurance directly, but we can provide a superbill you can submit for potential reimbursement.
